chicks who click.
last night i fought my hermit nature and headed downtown after work to join a fabulous group of women at the carleton.
there was great conversation, lots of laughter, terrific food (oh my god, frites ... frites are heaven in fried potato form ... i am ruined for all other types of potatoes, forever) ... oh, and there was cheesecake.

did i mention the frites? and the cheesecake?
wait, what was i talking about?
oh, yes ... an evening with some fabulous women ... many of whom i met for the first time last night, but i felt like i already knew ... because i follow them on twitter.
it was my first experience with the social side of social media ... and i loved every minute. the twitter community is pretty active in halifax ... an event called third wednesday spun off into #twushi (twitter+sushi), game night, and i even think there was a knitting party at some point.
anyway, last night was a gathering of #halifaxchicks ... simply, chicks (guys are allowed if they show up in heels ... no takers last night, though) from halifax and area who are on twitter. and it was fabulous! lots of ages, professions and interests represented ... easy (and sometimes noisy and occasionally inappropriate) chatting ... it was fabulous ... i know i am totally over-fabulous-ing, but there's really no better word to describe it!
i have to admit that i was hesitant to step beyond my 140 character comfort zone ... it's like online dating, where i am witty and wonderful in email and then get all shy when it is time to jump into the real world ... but i am so glad i finally did!

Yay for the Halifabulous #halifaxchicks...and your inaugural introduction to them!! Oh..and yay cheesecake.
I missed cheesecake?? BOOO! Next time, more time circulating the table, spreading the inappropriate humour... and I'm not leaving till dessert arrives.
We have a group in Calgary that meets for #yycdonairs (guys and girls) and #yycgno (girls night out - only gay guys are invited for the first couple of hours)... we are thinking of branching out to #yyckno (karaoke night out). I am loving Twitter, and my Twitter friends - a great group of people - even the ones I have never met in real life!
Oh! Fun! Sounds great. The internets are full of fun people.
I have never been to a meet and greet blogger lunch that I felt uncomfortable at.
In fact, I have made some really good friends with people I met on the internet.
I think the fact that you took yourself out to something like this is a huge step. I'm so proud of you, girlie!!
That's awesome.
Maybe they'll be a group of twits down here by me that I could look into.
p.s. my word verify was "wraggi".
Now I'm thinking of Scooby Doo.
;)
